The Company
A global supply chain and logistics solution provider to some of the world's largest Automotive, Technology, MedTech, Industrial and Healthcare corporations. Specialising in the design and implementation of logistical solutions. Due to a significant increase in demand with a number of key customers, they are seeking a Technical Support Specialist to join their IT team at their new facility in Burton.
The role
A Technical Support Specialist is required to join the team on a permanent basis at a brand-new facility in Burton.
You will take responsibility for:
- Complying and implementing standards that are set out by the system and network engineering team leaders in relation to planning and supporting the plants desktop, WAN, LAN, servers, and disaster recovery.
- Deliver first- and second-line diagnostic support for the System and Network engineering teams as well as the Service Desk in supporting the facility relating to their Desktops, Wan, Lan and Servers alongside capture site specific network, server, and end device documentation.
- Creation of work instructions for new and existing objectives and ensure all documentation is formatted and stored correctly as identified by team leads.
- Partake in global support on-call rotation for the various plants worldwide. Available when needed during their rotation and be able to connect to the network within 10 minutes
- Process alert emails from the service desk and fixes or escalates as required.
- Delivers change management support during on-call weekends.
- Adheres to the security standards and proactively identifies security issues and escalates where required.
- Provides on site support for new site launches and server refreshes
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field, coupled with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience within Technical Support roles
- Excellent communication skills with colleagues, managers, and external members also
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Good knowledge of network systems, protocols, server hardware and operating systems
- Good knowledge of desktop hardware and software and operating systems
Other DESIRABLE skills include:
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once
- Ability to create and document procedures
- Ability to work within a very demanding environment whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality
- Experience within a Logistics/Manufacturing industry would be advantageous
