Our client is one of the fastest growing AI scale-ups in the world and looking for a talented Senior Scala Engineer to join their ever-growing team, working closely with all areas of the tech team including design, infrastructure, front-end, product and data. The Senior Scala Engineer will be able to work independently, act as a strong voice within the team and help drive the team forward with an open-minded and experienced approach. Role Responsibilities
- Keep up to date regarding best practices in software development and deployment
- Implement best practice coding in relation to Development coding standards
- Work alongside other Scala Developers on projects or work alone where necessary
- Contribute to improve the overall development processes and methodologies followed by the Development team
Experience
- The ability to develop clean code (function and variable names, class organisation, unit testing, keyboard speed / IDE familiarity)
- Very comfortable working in Scala
- Understanding of synchronous API structures e.g. HTTP request verbs
- Data modelling
- Confident setting up and working with operations: logs, metrics and alerting
- Architecturally minded, experienced in pushing forward technical architecture
- Experience working on projects end to end
- Understands and can discuss different CI and CD workflows, their benefits and drawbacks
Additional skills
- Functional programming experience in Scala (think cats,
- Admin or deployment experience in a cloud environment
- Deep understanding of one or more database technologies
- DevOps tooling (terraform, kubernetes)
- Experience working with CI and CD pipelines
- SQL skills
- Experience in another language (typescript or spark for extra points)
