The Company
A global supply chain and logistics solution provider to some of the world's largest Automotive, Technology, MedTech, Industrial and Healthcare corporations. Specialising in the design and implementation of logistical solutions. Due to a significant increase in demand with a number of key customers, they are seeking an operations Manager to oversee their Wolverhampton based Engine Plant.
The role
An operations Manager is required to continuously improve the processes and strategies throughout the plant driving a zero-harm approach and building positive proactive working relationships.
You will take responsibility for:
- Implementing lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement, driving operational and behavioral based safety, and ensuring affective delivery of HS&E KPIs
- Utilising CI Principles such as Hoshin Kanri / X-Matrix tools to ensure daily & weekly metrics align with customer demand and operational strategy. Actively promoting, influencing and driving change to support and promote fluctuating needs of the business
- Ensuring the capture and implementation of SMART ideas in the planning and coordination of operations, increasing output, and saving time and effort.
- Reviewing (RCA) root cause analysis data and identifying potential problems, escalating, and analyzing issues to senior management providing input for future process improvements.
- Allocating and managing budgets across the departments ensuring they are aligned to customer demand requirements with the ability to flex costs accordingly.
- Maximising scheduling and delivery of commodities to the customer whilst managing daily activities of the logistics linefeed operations.
- Proactively engaging with workforce and providing affective leadership to supervisors and teams. Regular reviewing, dealing with disciplinary matters & managing attendance & performance
- Actively further developing customer relationships by communicating with key external stakeholders.
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:
- Previously managed production or operations teams within a manufacturing/logistics/service environment with an established management record and delivery of production targets.
- Understanding of Logistics methods and ability to challenge logistics processes.
- Knowledge of ERP Systems (SAP) and scheduling systems, and proficient with different software (Microsoft packages, data analyses, and/or other logistical inventory management systems)
- Skilled communicator, supportive team player and leader with strong influencing and engagement skills who is driven, determined, results orientated with the ability to solve/simplify complex issues.
- Problem solving and analytical skills in data control and production processes
Other DESIRABLE skills include:
- Minimum HND qualified, Degree level educated would be preferable.
- Master's/Bachelor's degree in Logistics or equivalent / relevant field would be highly advantageous
- Experienced on MS Access or other database application is desirable
- An ambitious individual who is able to stand in for the Plant Manager where required and wants to progress their career in the long term to encompass wider responsibilities
