A well-established privately-owned manufacturing company specialising in subcontract CNC machining, based in Birmingham, supporting various industries including Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear, and the wider general manufacturing sector. Due to significant investment and an increase in orders, the company is looking to add a CNC Miller Programmer / Setter / Operator to its stable team.
The role
A CNC Miller Programmer / Setter / Operator with expertise in Heidenhain controls is required. Responsibilities include developing numerical control programs, selecting cutting tools, and using Heidenhain software to guide CNC milling machines. Collaborating with engineers and machinists to ensure efficient production processes and high-quality machined components. Working hours are 8 am - 4 pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8 am - 3 pm (Friday), totalling 39 hours a week.
You will take responsibility for:- One-offs and small batch production.
- Machining a range of materials, including Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, and Nickel Alloys such as Invar.
- Working with a range of parts, including heavy fabrication cast iron components.
- Working autonomously, taking responsibility for your work and programming from scratch.
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:- Experience in programming, setting, and operating milling machines with Heidenhain controls.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
Other DESIRABLE skills include:- Previous experience working with a range of materials and heavy fabrications.
