Role Overview
As a Secondary School Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting teachers and students across a range of subjects and activities. From assisting in classrooms to providing one-on-one support for students with additional needs, your role will be varied, challenging, and incredibly rewarding.
Key Responsibilities as a Secondary School Teaching Assistant:- Assist subject teachers in delivering engaging lessons, providing support to students individually or in small groups as required.
- Support students with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities, implementing strategies outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensuring their inclusion in classroom activities.
- Help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment by promoting positive behaviour, encouraging participation, and fostering positive relationships among students.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of educational resources, materials, and equipment to enhance learning opportunities.
- Provide pastoral support to students, offering guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear when needed.
- Experience working with young people, preferably in an educational setting (though training can be provided for the right candidate).
- A compassionate and patient approach to working with students, with a genuine desire to support their academic and personal development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks to support the needs of the school and its students.
