The company
A global manufacturing business based in Birmingham specialising in the supply of core Aerospace components to the world's leading Aerospace and defence manufacturers. The company is now undergoing significant expansion across its flagship Birmingham site due to a huge influx of demand with key customers and on the back of this growth are seeking a H&S Advisor to join their EHS team.
The role
Reporting into the EHS Manager, a Health and Safety advisor, who will take responsibility for the upkeep of internal health initiatives for on-site employees is now required to join the business on a full-time permanent basis.
You will take responsibility for:
- The overall improvement of employee wellness across the site
- Responsibility for undertaking risk assessments which will contribute to improving overall employee health
- Ensuring existing control methods are sustainable and effective, improving where necessary
- Contributing to and working as part of a wider EHS team whilst having to work on some projects independently with own initiative
- Development of risk assessments associated with Noise reduction/exposure and inhalation exposure across the site
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:
- Previous experience of driving health and safety initiatives and/or occupational hygiene standards within a manufacturing/engineering setting
- You will have a relevant membership/qualification within either NEBOSH/IOSH/ BOHS
- Comfortable to work as part of a team or independently
- Computer literate with the ability to use Excel
- A skilled communicator who is comfortable working to deadlines and projects
Other DESIRABLE skills include:
- Experience within an Aerospace setting would be highly advantageous but not essential
- Experience of working within high-risk environments where there is heightened exposure to noise and/or hazardous materials/substances would be desirable
