The Company
Our client, one of the industry's leading Digital Technology Consultancies based in the North of England. With ever changing projects and an increase in the number of contracts recently, they are looking to expand their teams resulting in the opening of the Data Engineer position.
The role
Due to a new project being undertook, the company are looking for a Data Engineer to join the team on a predominantly remote basis.
You will take responsibility for:
- Communicating with clients and identifying their datasets and needs
- The selection and introduction of Big Data tools and frameworks that are needed for requested capabilities
- Implementation and use of ETL pipelines and processes
- Interacting with dashboards and implement new ones as well as reporting tools. These include
- Implementation and defining of new data retention policies
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:
- Hands on professional experience using major cloud providers
- Proficiency in the processing, analysis and movement of data
- Able to visualize and interpret data from multiple sources to interpret data into information, analyze and find better insights
- Experience using tools including Splunk, ELK, Grafana, BI & Analytical tooling such as Tableau, AWS Quicksight or Google DataStudio
- Very good understanding of distributed computing principles
- Proficient at using Hadoop, MapReduce and HDFS
- Good knowledge of ETL techniques and frameworks, including Flume and AWS glue
- Professional experience using Big Data ML toolkits, spark or databricks, NoSQL databases and high performance message systems
Other DESIRABLE skills include:
- AWS/ Azure certification
- Diagnosing and fixing issues with cluster operations
What is on offer
On offer is the opportunity to join a large digital consultancy based in Leeds on a full-time basis. There is also a competitive salary of £45,000 - £60,000. Due to the company being employee-owned, there is also a bonus of between £2600- £3400 annually. Annual bonuses are of course based on the success and performance of the business so this is a fantastic opportunity to join a rapidly expanding business where you will have a direct financial incentive and benefit from the company's ambitious growth plans.
