Transport Manager
The company
One of the UK's largest logistics groups, who are a leading 3PL supplier into the world's leading brands and are operating from a brand new state of the art facility in Banbury. On the back of a recent site opening and the uptake of a number of key contracts, the customer are now seeking an entrepreneurial Transport Manager to join them as part of their growth plans.
The role
A Transport Manager is now required who will be responsible for a brand-new site and a brand new Transport team, managing a Transport Shift Manager, 2 Morning Shift Supervisors and 2 Night Shift Supervisors, a Transport Planner and a large fleet of drivers.
You will take responsibility for:
- Building up a Brand-new Transport Team as well as establishing key relationships with a brand-new customer
- Managing daily operations and communicating with subcontractors
- P&L Responsibility across the transport division
- Managing compliance and general upkeep of vehicles
- Maximising Load capacity and using the company's network to maximise routes- Backloads etc
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:
- CPC License holder
- Entrepreneurial spirit, someone who is confident managing a large fleet of vehicles and coordinating subcontractors
- Experience working within a 3PL company / general haulage environment would be highly advantageous
- Experience of building a new team and a new site would be desirable but not essential
- Strong understanding of managing finances & taking P&L Responsibility
- A skilled communicator who has an understanding of the customer expectations and routes across the UK
Other DESIRABLE skills include:
- Strong understanding of vehicle compliance & repair
