The Company
My client, a market leading pharmaceutical organisation based in the Cotswolds and operating nationally are currently looking for a Senior Procurement Manager to join the team on a permanent basis. The Senior Procurement Manager will start at an exciting time for the business, with a new leadership team focussed on growing an already successful company. Currently a large provider to the NHS, other pharmaceutical companies and private medical providers, the company employs over 400 people and generates nine-figure sales.
The Role
My client are looking for an experienced and pro-active Senior Procurement Manager with previous short-cycle experience, taking the commercial lead for procurement and to set the standard for the company's procurement processes and procedures. This role requires a keen understanding enabling you to develop responses to highly complex issues, as well as the ability to apply specialist learning, involving detailed analysis of a high level of information and knowledge. Whilst CIPS is an advantage, a people's person who understands best practice procurement will certainly thrive in this position. In addition, the Senior Procurement Manager will and lead, coach, and mentor the purchasing team of four, being hands on in managing and maintaining stock levels to maximise business efficiencies.
What you will be doing- Develop the organisation's procurement strategy & policy
- Lead and mentor a team of four procurement specialists
- Conduct research to ascertain market trends and needs
- Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities
- Develop market knowledge and contacts for new products and services
- Evaluate bids, making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors
- Negotiate supplier agreements and monitoring their progress and SLA's
- Process forecast gap analysis responses and mitigate risks to continual supply
- Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
- Attend supplier meetings, distribution centres and trade conferences
- Build & maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers
