The Company
My client, a market-leading, forward thinking electrical manufacturer that have been in the market for 65 years. The company have recently acquired several companies and now offer large array of products within the electrical market. The requirement for a buyer is a result of the rapid growth and ensures this role being crucial in the journey of growth this company is currently enjoying.
The Role
Reporting into the Senor Buying Manager, our client is looking for a buyer to join their growing team and maintain supplier management, project management and internal stakeholder support.The Buyer will take responsibility for:
- Overall commercial management of the supplier base
- Product sourcing that includes; supplier prospecting, assessment of their pedigree, capability, customer base, financial well-being, price competitiveness, product quality, and service levels.
- Project management of new product introductions and resourcing activities, defining the critical path, working closely with all internal stakeholders (product management, technical, commercial, sales, marketing and inventory control teams) to ensure key milestones and deliverables are met
- Assisting the product management team to optimise product offerings through effective sourcing
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful Buyer to have the following:- Educated to Degree Level
- 3+ years' experience in an OEM product sourcing/buying role with experience of working with a global third-party supplier base
- Proven track record of delivering results, cost savings and improvements
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a thorough and accurate approach to work
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in both a team environment and on own
- Negotiation experience in a previous procurement or supply chain role
- Organised, resourceful and a lateral thinker with a proactive approach to tasks
- Ability to work effectively in high pressure and deadline driven situations
- Computer literate with strong Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookup, etc)
- Drive, ambition and enthusiasm to deliver results and progress within the organisation
Other DESIRABLE skills for the Buyer include:
- MCIPS or part CIPS qualification
- ERP System experience
- Experience in sourcing lighting products from a global supply base.
