The Company
A world class leading manufacturer of agricultural and highway vehicles are current looking for a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to lead their central office in the main office based in Derbyshire.
The role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join a global market leading manufacturer.You will take responsibility for:
- Expanding the team of embedded developers and leading the drive of standardisation of the control system software
- Lead the movement of reusing components
- Working within a multidisciplinary team effectively to proficiently understand the requirement of the project
- Manage lifecycle of ECU's, gateways, sensors, and switches
- Reading and interpreting electronic schematic diagrams and electrical wiring diagrams
- Prior experience in rapid prototyping for product development
- Creating software architecture
- Grow and develop the strategy and delivery of the embedded solutions
- Occasionally taking part of international travel
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:
- Obtained a degree/degree level qualification in electronic or software-based technology. Equivalent experience will also be considered
- Experience in the entire software development cycle
- Experience in C/C++ programming
- Experience using MATLAB, Simulink or stateflow ideally in an automotive or off highway setting
- Knowledge of HIL (Hardware in the loop) testing
- Project delivery experience
- Experience of system integration testing
- Awareness of CAN/Ethernet communication protocols
- Ability to perform risk assessments, FMEA and 8D
- Strong software development background using development techniques i.e., V model and functional safety
Other DESIRABLE skills include:
- Project management experience
- Strong technical background and good technical writing
- Works well within a diverse team
- Leading continuous improvement process
- Willingness to learn and continue self-development
- Good communication skills and a problem solver
