The company
A global manufacturing business based in Birmingham specialising in the supply of core Aerospace components to the world's leading Aerospace and defence manufacturers. The company is now undergoing significant expansion across its flagship Birmingham site due to a huge influx of demand with key customers and on the back of this growth are seeking a LAN Technical Lead to join the global team.
The role
Reporting to the Distributed Networks Manager as a part of the Global LAN Technical Team. Working with a global team, but from a base site in Birmingham. This role is fully on site and the successful candidate requires full rights to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not permitted for this role.
You will take responsibility for:
- Providing remote support for multiple European locations within a wider global network
- Upon the expiry of equipment leases, you will manage network refreshes for each site location.
- Specify, design, configure and implement new network equipment taking into consideration effectiveness, cost, and availability.
- Managing Cisco networks, routers, switches, and firewall platforms.
- Reporting to the procurement team with feedback on equipment needed and logs to support those requirements
- Organising and managing projects for remote installations of European sites
- Communicating with customers to follow up on implementations and gather requirements
What you need
It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum 2 years' experience supporting global network solutions that are heavily reliant on multi-purpose Cisco routers, switches, wireless, Firewalls amongst other tools
- Effective communication skills and ability to think independently and work independently
Other DESIRABLE skills include:
- Experience of working in Global Networking Teams that are responsible for multiple worldwide sites
- CCNA certification
- Knowledge and or experience of Cisco Firewalls
- Knowledge and or experience working in business standards and technical environment
