Mechanical Design Engineer

The Company

A large Automation process builder for a variety of key industries, working for some of the largest organisations in the world. Relocation to another nearby site in Dudley and the recent acquisition of a major new contract, means that they are looking for an highly experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to add to the team.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will collaborate closely with our engineering team to ensure accurate pre-engineering of service projects. You will be responsible for producing detailed design drawings, calculations, and deliverables using Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD and associated products. Additionally, you will play a key role in liaising with customers, suppliers, and various departments.

You will take responsibility for:

• Produce detailed design drawings and calculations within expected timescales.
• Develop design deliverables including P&IDs, hydraulic calculations, combustion calculations, pneumatic calculations, structural design calculations, Mechanical GAs, and layouts.
• Utilise Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD for all designs and associated products.
• Perform design calculations using Excel and by hand when necessary.
• Use CFD/FEA for design development and validation.
• Select suitable components for accurate estimating.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and wider service team.
• Work collaboratively with other design departments.
• Provide support to project managers and directors within the business.
• Maintain design input throughout the project lifecycle.

What you need

It is ESSENTIAL for the successful Candidate to have the following:

• Minimum of 5 years working in a design capacity.
• Degree in Engineering.
• Must have rights to work in the UK

Other DESIRABLE skills include:

• Experience working in a Forge or Furnace environment.
• Experience of designing capital equipment or large-scale machinery.
• Good inter-personal skills and communication skills.

What is on offer?

• Salary of £40,000 - £46,000

• Opportunity to work towards becoming a Chartered Engineer if required.
