The company A leading manufacturing business based in Birmingham who specialise in cutting edge Automation projects, working closely with some of the world's leading businesses. After securing several long-term contracts with key customers, the company are seeking to an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their lean manufacturing and design team.
The role Reporting into the Technical Director, a Design Engineer is now required join the team on a permanent basis.
You will take responsibility for:- Liaise with customers and discuss design plans
- Ensure projects are adhering to budget plans
- Design machines using SolidWorks
- Revisit and improve designs taken from design reviews
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure that health and safety standards are adhered to.
- Construct in- depth 2D drawings for manufacture
- Create bill of materials
- Prepare detailed steps of design for the build team and compile a build folder
- Produce operation and maintenance manual relevant projects.
- Support the build department regarding any concerns
What you need It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:- Experience using electric and pneumatic actuators for a minimum of six years
- Experience using vacuum or mechanical grippers in transfer/ handling or similar applications.
- Prior experience of using photoelectric and inductive sensors.
- Experience using six axis robots for gluing, vision etc
Other DESIRABLE skills include:- Experience creating custom machine parts and fabrications
- Be able to adhere to design budgets when estimating "off the shelves components ".
- Ability to perform risk assessments and FMEAs
- Have a basic knowledge of solenoids, PLC or HMI
