Transport Planner (Shifts)

The company

The world's largest logistics company, operating from sites UK wide across multiple key brands and sectors with a fleet of over 2,000 vehicles. The business is now looking for a transport planner to work out of one of their Birmingham sites as part of their shift operation.

Shifts: 05:30 - 13:30 / 12:00 - 20:00

The role

Reporting to the Transport Manager, A Transport Planner is required to work as part of the Transport Team at their Birmingham facility.

You will take responsibility for:

• Planning workload for a mixed fleet
• Dealing with customers and sub- contractors as well as other internal and external sites.
• Sub- contracting and planning orders of multiple warehouse facilities.
• Overseeing day to day planning, vehicle scheduling, driver resourcing and finances
• All Health and Safety in the workplace, as well as observing and implementing safe systems of work for drivers to follow
• Compliance with company processes and procedures and aviation security regulations.

What you need

It is ESSENTIAL for the successful candidate to have the following:

• Minimum of 2 years' experience within a planning role in the logistics/transport sector
• To have a proven history in freight forwarding
• To have good geographical knowledge of the UK
• To have sound knowledge of trucks and HGVs with an excellent understanding of current UK legislation to vehicles including DVSA, WTD.
• Must have a good understanding of the aviation security regulations (training provided) and be fluent in health and safety.
• Must encompass good communication and planning skills and be adept with Microsoft office.

Other DESIRABLE skills include:

• Experience planning for a large fleet would be preferred.
• Previous experience using Atlas planning software would be advantageous.
